Exemplary partnerships
CNR supports projects that match its activities, values and ethical commitments.
All the projects proposed are examined by a Partnership and Sponsoring Committee that, on average, meets three times a year. Each project selected is subject to a contractual agreement that sets out the exact amount awarded, the duration of the partnership, the procedures of implementation and, possibly, the returns expected.
CNR selects projects carried out with application, transparency and professionalism, satisfying criteria of excellence and fully integrating the principles of societal responsibility.
Consequently, some initiatives cannot be aided: mechanical and violent sports, pollutant activities, those that are non-ethical or contrary to environmental goals. Likewise, CNR does not give its support to political, sectarian or xenophobic activities, or to projects that run counter to its values or to universal rights acknowledged by the UN, or linked to obtaining a contract.
The 6 areas of action eligible for sponsorship:
- Education and expertise in trades: actions that contribute to better understanding of CNR’s trades in the educative world and specialised trade networks: renewable energies, river transport and responsible engineering.
- Environment and biodiversity: awareness in favour of preserving the fauna and flora of the Rhone Valley.
- Research and Innovation: research programmes linked with schools, laboratories and start-up nurseries.
- Sport: support for non-motorised nautical sports and soft transport modes (cycling, running) in the Rhone Valley.
- Culture: aid for cultural and historical heritage events in the Rhone Valley.
Zoom on 3 partnerships
CNR, the main partner of the FFA (French Rowing Federation)
Since the river is a place of connection and meetings, CNR encourages sports and leisure activities that attract local inhabitants to renew their acquaintance with this living and welcoming space.
The official sponsor of the French rowing and para-rowing teams, CNR has contributed over the last 10 years to the development of clubs located along the Rhone Valley, in the city of Lyon and on Lake Bourget. In particular, it participates in modernising and setting up infrastructures such as the multimodal Bugey Upper-Rhone Rowing Base in the Ain department, and the purchase of safety boats to accompany the rowers, such as at Saint-Pierre-de-Bœuf in Loire.
Sharing common values, CNR joins with FFAviron to encourage the feminisation of this sport. It introduces this discipline and its benefits for health to schoolchildren and disabled persons and makes the federation’s members aware of the need to protect rivers and their ecosystems.
CNR also gives its support to non-motorised nautical sports and leisure activities such as canoe-kayaking, jousting, rafting, white-water swimming, stand-up paddleboarding, and wind surfing, in particular by financing new equipment and participating financially in events on the Rhone.

Spreading awareness with the Women’s International Cycling Tour of Ardeche (TCFIA)
Following 21 years of shared history with the Vélo Club Vallée du Rhône Ardéchoise, CNR renewed its sponsorship contract for three years on 23 February 2024. An international women’s cycling tour with stages, the Women’s Cycling Tour passes through municipalities alongside the Rhone, while also spreading values of ecology and environmental preservation that CNR shares with the organisers.
To do this, the TCFIA and CNR carry out an awareness campaign at each new edition of this cycle race. The aim is to make both children and adults aware collectively about the current state of rivers and, more generally, about the challenges linked to ecological energy transition in the territories.
A large number of activities and events punctuate the circuit taken by the women cyclists, involving the organisers and the general public, in view to encouraging action in the face of climate change and in favour of preserving our streams and rivers.
CNR, a company that acts in solidarity with Food Banks
Close to the territories and those who live in them, CNR places great importance on the integration of persons subject to economic and financial insecurity and puts its resources and dynamism in the service of local initiatives to combat poverty, inequalities and exclusion.
Since 2008, CNR has constantly pursued its commitment of solidarity by making a significant financial contribution to the French Federation of Food Banks, the foremost food aid network in France with a total of 2.4 million people receiving aid. Furthermore, CNR was awarded the label “Company Solidary with Food Banks” from the French Federation of Food Banks”, proof of the strength and loyalty of its commitment.
Today,14 departmental Food Banks and the headquarters of the federation benefit from CNR’s financial support, as well as logistic aid for the transport and storage of food and the voluntary involvement of CNR’s employees during local collection operations in warehouses.
