Consequently, <strong>accelerating modal transfer and reinforcing logistic supply between Lyon and Marseille<\/strong> is a strategic challenge consisting in linking the Mediterranean with French and European industry.<\/p>\n<p>The Mediterranean-Rhone-Soane Corridor (MeRS) embodies a clear vision: that of <strong>becoming a decarbonated logistic corridor that is both competitive and structural<\/strong>, to reconcile economic efficiency, environmental transition and territorial development. CNR is fully involved in assisting this evolution in the service of companies, the territories and ecological transition.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n                                <\/div>\n\n href=\"https:\/\/www.marseille-port.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marseille-Fos<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sete.port.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S\u00e8te<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ports-tpm.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Toulon<\/a>\u00a0to the major economic and industrial hubs of the Rhone Valley and the Soane, serving four large regions and a catchment area with a population of 21 million.<\/p>\n\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n        <div class=\"inner-wrap \">\n        <div class=\"as--column as--columns-2\" auto-reveal>\n                            <div class=\"as--column__item editor-wysiwyg h-align-left\">\n editor-wysiwyg h-align-left\">\n                                                                                                        <p>With its <strong>port infrastructures, railway links and strategic supply of property<\/strong>, the MeRS corridor provides still greatly unexploited potential in a situation of saturated road infrastructures and the requirement to reduce CO\u2082 emissions.<\/p>\n<p>This ambition is now materialised with the active involvement of the CNU (unified national collective) alongside the State, Port de Marseille-Fos, local authorities, and all the business and industrial actors, based on <strong>shared governance and operational projects<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n                                                                                                                                    <\/div>\n                    <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n    \n                \n\n<section class=\"content-section as--normal-margin as--txt-dark \" >\n            <div class=\"inner-wrap\" reveal>\n            <div class=\"editor-wysiwyg h-mb-40\">\n                <h2 class=\"a-title-2\">CNR, a driver of development along the MeRS corridor<\/h2>\n<p>As the historic developer of the Rhone and manager of <strong>330 kilometres of navigable wide-gauge waterway<\/strong>, CNR plays a structural role in developing the MeRS corridor.<\/p>\n<p>At present, 75% of river traffic on the MeRS corridor transits via the port and industrial sites operated by CNR, illustrating its <strong>pivotal role in the corridor\u2019s logistic organisation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n        <div class=\"inner-wrap \">\n        <div class=\"as--column as--columns-2\" reveal>\n                            <div class=\"as--column__item editor-wysiwyg h-align-left\">\n                                                                                                        <p>CNR deploys an <strong>operational strategy in the service of modal transfer and the massification of flows<\/strong>. In the framework of the 5Rh\u00f4ne Plan, CNR has launched nearly 70 projects since 2022, investing \u20ac22.5 million to improve the reliability, safety and capacity of the navigation structures, improve the quality of services for skippers and optimise the supervision of flows between maritime and inland ports.<\/p>\n<p>The recent renewal of several <strong>port sub-concessions<\/strong> &#8211; Lyon, Salaise\/Sablons, Portes-l\u00e8s-Valence, Arles \u2013 henceforth integrates these <strong>goals of environmental performance and the massification of logistic transport<\/strong>. Thus, more than \u20ac80 million of public-private investment, including \u20ac14 million funded by CNR, have been made available to upgrade the logistic infrastructures and ports of the Rhone.<\/p>\n\n                                                                                                                                    <\/div>\n                            <div class=\"as--column__item editor-wysiwyg h-align-left\">\n                                                                                                                                        <div class=\"editor-img as--rounded\">\n                                    <picture>\n                                        <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cnr.tm.fr\/app\/uploads\/2025\/12\/CNR_transport_fluvial_fret_port_Rhone-450x450.jpg\" alt=\"\">\n                                    <\/picture>\n                                <\/div>\n                                                                                                                                    <\/div>\n                    <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n    \n    \n\n<section class=\"content-section as--normal-margin as--txt-dark as--bgcolor\" style=background-color:#68C6DF33>\n            <div class=\"inner-wrap\" reveal>\n            <div class=\"editor-wysiwyg h-mb-40\">\n                <p style=\"text-align: center;\">Via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medlinkports.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Medlink Ports<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0the agency tasked with promoting multimodal transfer and the decarbonation of goods traffic along the MeRS corridor, CNR is also involved alongside all the actors <strong>to dynamize river and rail transport, and spur new solutions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n        <div class=\"inner-wrap \">\n        <div class=\"as--column as--columns-0\" reveal>\n                    <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n    \n                \n\n<section class=\"content-section as--normal-margin as--txt-dark \" >\n            <div class=\"inner-wrap\" reveal>\n            <div class=\"editor-wysiwyg h-mb-40\">\n                <h3 class=\"a-title-3\"><span style=\"color: #239bd7;\">\u00d4rizon 2035: a collective road map for the Rhone-Soane river corridor<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>The master river corridor plan, \u00d4rizon 2035<\/strong>, is a strategic reference framework for river development on the Rhone\u2013Saone corridor. Stemming from wide-ranging consultation bringing together the State, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vnf.fr\/vnf\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">VNF<\/a>, CNR, the local authorities and more than 120 public and private actors, it sets out a <strong>shared vision and operational action plan until 2035<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n        <div class=\"inner-wrap \">\n        <div class=\"as--column as--columns-2\" reveal>\n                            <div class=\"as--column__item editor-wysiwyg h-align-left\">\n                                                                                                                                        <div class=\"editor-img as--rounded\">\n                                    <picture>\n                                        <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cnr.tm.fr\/app\/uploads\/2025\/12\/CNR_transport_fluvial_fret_tourisme-450x450.jpg\" alt=\"\">\n                                    <\/picture>\n                                <\/div>\n                                                                                                                                    <\/div>\n                            <div class=\"as--column__item editor-wysiwyg h-align-left\">\n                                                                                                        <p>\u00d4rizon 2035 is based on a central principle: the option of balance and ambition. It permits the <strong>development of the entire basin<\/strong>, by taking into account the specific characteristics of each territory, while combining the stakes of local activities with those of opening up to international markets. The plan also aims to strengthen the integration of river and port governance, organise a mesh of specialised and synergetic ports, and upgrade infrastructures and services.<\/p>\n<p>This road map is structured around major strategic directions, transformed into concrete actions <strong>to win over river freight, aid the growth of river tourism and make the river a major lever for ecological transition<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n                                                                                                                                    <\/div>\n                    <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n    \n    \n\n<section class=\"content-section as--normal-margin as--txt-dark as--bgcolor\" style=background-color:#68C6DF33>\n            <div class=\"inner-wrap\" reveal>\n            <div class=\"editor-wysiwyg h-mb-40\">\n                <p>The success of the MeRS corridor relies on efficient and balanced governance adapted to the diversity of the territories. Since 2021, at the initiative of the government, the Inter-port and Logistics Coordination Council (CCIL) organises a <strong>dynamic partnership<\/strong> between all the actors: the government, infrastructure managers, local authorities, Chambers of Commerce and Industry and economic operators.<\/p>\n<p>This collective work has led to <strong>concrete progress<\/strong>: the adoption of a corridor master plan, the compilation of a common property catalogue, reflection on reforming handling costs to favour modal transfer, improving customs coordination and developing innovative projects.<\/p>\n<p>In 2025, this impetus resulted in on-lining an <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/axe-sud-mers.fr\/cartographie\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interactive map<\/a><\/strong> accessible to all: South MeRS Corridor. This innovative initiative to digitise the entire supply chain, allows identifying the key actors of bulk transport and logistics (companies, infrastructures and services) on the MeRS corridor, thus improving the transparency, clarity and coordination of flows.<\/p>\n\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n        <div class=\"inner-wrap \">\n        <div class=\"as--column as--columns-2\" reveal>\n                            <div class=\"as--column__item editor-wysiwyg h-align-left\">\n                                                                                                        <p>Continuing the works begun by the CCIL, CNR and Port de Marseille-Fos work to organise <strong>stronger cooperation to utilise land for business and logistics purposes<\/strong>, with the capacity of purchasing, developing and selling new industrial and port sites. This approach is intended to simplify interfaces, speed up decision-making and facilitate the implementation of projects stemming from the CCIL.<\/p>\n<p>The goal is clear: <strong>offer regional and national companies easier access to land, efficient logistics solutions and better links from the hinterland to Mediterranean ports and European markets<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n
